I Launched Link-Trim.in – A No-Nonsense URL Shortener. Here’s the Raw Truth + Feedback Wanted!

posted 2 min read

I just launched Link-Trim.in, a dead-simple URL shortener that does one thing well: shortens links and tracks click counts. No signups, no logins, no nonsense—just a clean, SEO-friendly tool to make your links sharable and trackable. I’m a solo dev, and I built this in one week flat. No stats to brag about yet (it’s day one!), but I’m here to share the raw truth about my launch and beg for your feedback to make this actually worth using.

7 days of coding, 2 sleepless nights, and 1 moment where I almost deleted the database.

Zero users so far, 10 test clicks (all me), and a favicon that’s probably too boring.

Click tracking is just a raw count—no fancy analytics yet. The UI is clean, but I’m paranoid it’s too minimal.

I’ve been a solo dev for 2+ years, hacking together tools for fun and learning. No [OVERHYPED THING] “game-changing startup” vibes or bloated promises. Just [HARD-EARNED TRUTH]—I poured my heart into this in a week, and now I’m terrified/excited to share it.

Here’s what works (and what doesn’t):

  1. Clean UI Wins: I obsessed over a simple, fast, SEO-friendly design that loads quick and feels intuitive. No cluttered menus or pop-ups. Actionable Advice: Prioritize user experience over feature creep—make it feel effortless. “Clutter kills; clean converts.

  2. No Signups = Instant Access: You can shorten a link and see click counts without an account. I hate signup walls, so I skipped them. Actionable Advice: Remove friction for first-time users—they’ll stick around longer. “Barriers block; openness rocks.”

  3. Feedback Fuels Growth: I built this fast, but I don’t know what you need. Analytics? Custom links? QR codes? Your input will shape v2. Actionable Advice: Ask for brutal feedback early—it’s better than building in the dark. “Guess wrong, lose strong.

The full Link-Trim.in (free, no-signup URL shortening with click tracking) is live here:

https://link-trim.in

No signup forms or bloated features. Just short, trackable links with a clean, user-friendly vibe.

I need your feedback: Try Link-Trim.in. Is the UI too simple? What analytics would you want (e.g., click times, locations)? Should I keep it signup-free forever? Roast me, praise me, whatever—just tell me what you think!

P.S. If you want more like this, I write honest, no-filter posts on Substack. No fluff, just real talk from a dev in the trenches.
